Sonja Brunner has been a dedicated member of the Santa Cruz community for 28 years, and is passionate about keeping Santa Cruz a strong, healthy and vibrant community. Sonja’s long standing and continued involvement in the Santa Cruz community, including her work with the Downtown Association of Santa Cruz and the Housing Authority Santa Cruz uniquely qualifies her to become a successful member of the Santa Cruz City Council. Sonja is bilingual and bicultural, a Cabrillo college graduate in Liberal Studies, a single working mother, an artist and a community organizer.
Sonja Brunner is well-suited to fully understand the critical issues that need love and care, such as affordable housing, equity, health in all policies, and support of local businesses and people during this Covid-19 economy. We are in a time that calls for an experienced and honest voice to be at the table when difficult decisions need to be made and opinions need to be heard, and Sonja Brunner is that voice. Sonja has the passion, commitment, patience, understanding, longevity and leadership experience to effectively serve the Santa Cruz community as a member of the City Council.
